"Loving You"

Somehow the story got started that Elvis Presley performs on the stage of the Ivar Theatre in Hollywood for one of the numbers in "Loving You" (Paramount, 1957). Not true. We see bits and pieces of three different theatre interiors in the film and none of them look anything like the Ivar.

This is the first theatre space we get. -- with just a bit of the proscenium showing.

Backstage with a bit more plaster visible.

Looking out into the house with a view of the side wall. Could have been on the Paramount lot. Wherever it was, there's no resemblance to the Ivar.

A backlot exterior for the Grand in Amarillo.

Peeking out from backstage in this second space, a bit fancier. Again, no resemblance to the Ivar.

Another backlot exterior, this time for the Civic Hall in Freegate, Texas.

In the auditorium of the space used for Civic Hall.

Backstage. We get lots of brick in all the backstage views we see for the different theatres.

A view of a nice proscenium at whatever space was used for Civic Hall. Perhaps at Paramount.

Elvis onstage at the Civic Hall. Wherever it was.

See the section about the Ivar Theatre on the Los Angeles Theatres website for more information on the venue. It's located at 1605 Ivar Ave. in Hollywood.
