"Black Sheep"

"Black Sheep" (Paramount, 1996), a not very funny comedy with Chris Farley and David Spade, begins with Farley running his truck into a theatre marquee. He's the out-of-control brother of a candidate for Washington State governor. Penelope Spheeris directed. An IMDb contributor thinks this storefront location was 410 S. Myrtle Ave. in Monrovia.

Farley is supposed to be staying at a cabin in Wenatchee but runs away and ends up in a theatre in the big city, Seattle. When we get a shot of the lobby it's evident we're at the Pantages in Hollywood.

He sneaks backstage, grabs a hat, and impersonates a security guard. Here we're downstage right with the theatre's dimmerboard on the left.

Another backstage shot, upstage right.  A 15 second clip from the scene is on You Tube.

A great view of the circular concession stand that was once in the lobby as Farley and his brother the candidate (Tim Matheson) exit the theatre. See the pages about the Pantages Theatre on the Los Angeles Theatres site for a history of the building along with hundreds of photos.
