We get this nice view of the American Theatre in Newhall in "Invasion of the Bee Girls" (Sequoia / Centaur, 1973). It looks like they're doing a sewer improvement project. But the big problem in town is that men are dropping dead all over the place during extremely vigorous sex. Too bad we don't get a death in the projection booth.
Yes, the Bee Girls are responsible. Denis Sanders directed from a script by Nicholas Meyer. The cinematography was by Gary Graver. The cast includes William Smith, Anitra Ford and Victoria Vetri.
A town meeting in the American, by this time used as an American Legion Hall. One bit of advice the men are given is to abstain from sex as they don't know which women have become Bee Girls. As the poster says "They'll love the very life out of your body." One gent storms out and says no way is he going to give that up. He'd later be found dead.
A view to the rear of the former theatre. See the page about the American Theatre on the Los Angeles Theatres site for more about the 1941 vintage building. It's a design by S. Charles Lee.
