"Postcards From the Edge"

Meryl Streep's agent has a view of the Chinese out his office window in "Postcards From the Edge" (Columbia, 1990). The canopy signage still advertises "Lethal Weapon 2," which played from July 7 until August 10, 1989. "Casualties of War," with Sean Penn and Michael J. Fox, is on the marquees. It ran from August 18 until September 21.

Meryl's there with her mother, played by Shirley MacLaine. Her agent is telling her that the insurance company is concerned about her drug use and will only cover her if she moves back in with her mother for the duration of the shoot.

The film features Gene Hackman, Dennis Quaid, Gary Morton, Richard Dreyfuss, Annette Bening, Rob Reiner, Simon Callow, Dana Ivey and Oliver Platt. Mike Nichols directed, based on a novel and screenplay by Carrie Fisher. The cinematography was by Michael Ballhaus.
