"Private Duty Nurses"

We see lots of scenes in various beach towns from Venice on down the coast in George Armitage's film "Private Duty Nurses" (New World Pictures, 1971). Here we're in Hermosa Beach on The Strand with a view of the stage end of the Hermosa Theatre over on the left.

"Honestly, doctor, I was only giving him a massage." This great epic features Katherine Cannon, Joyce Williams, Peggy Boucher, Joseph Kaufmann and Dennis Redfield. The cinematography was by John McNichol.

Another look at the Hermosa a moment later when our nurse circles back to talk.

See the page about the Hermosa Theatre on the Los Angeles Theatres site. It opened in 1923 as the Metropolitan. After its Hermosa era the theatre was known as the Cove and the Bijou.

On IMDb: "Private Duty Nurses"

"Private Duty Nurses" playing the Los Angeles Theatre in November 1971 along with that other great hit from New World, "Women in Cages." That film was advertised with the tagline "White skin on the black market." Thanks to Sean Ault for sharing the photo from his collection.
