"Dinner For Schmucks"

The Regent Theatre at 1045 Broxton Ave. in Westwood is in the background of a scene about eighteen minutes into "Dinner for Schmucks" (Paramount, 2010). Paul Rudd has just hit Steve Carrell with his car.

Of course this gives Steve the perfect opportunity to show pictures of his hobby of taking dead mice and dressing them up for strange-cute tableaus. Thanks to Dave Hunter for spotting the Regent. He notes that this scene, the only thing of interest in the movie, is several minutes long and as a bonus you can sort of see the Village Theatre in the distance.

The title? Well, Paul has a boss with the hobby of gathering his colleagues for elaborate dinners and then inviting idiotic people to join them with the purpose of making fun of them. It's a plus if you find the perfect guest for one of these events. Also featured are Stephanie Szostak, Lucy Punch, Zach Galifianakis, Jemaine Clement, Bruce Greenwood and David Walliams. Jay Roach directed. The cinematography was by Jim Denault.

See the page about the Regent Theatre on the Los Angeles Theatres site. It's now called the Landmark Westwood.
