"The Singing Detective"

Paranoid writer Robert Downey, Jr. performs a number in Keith Gordon's film "The Singing Detective" (Paramount Classics, 2003). We're at the Lodge Room, 104 N. Ave. 56 in Highland Park. 

 

 

 

A look to the rear of the space. Up in the spot booth there are a couple of suspicious looking guys.   

 

When Robert comes down to the street we get this view across the intersection to the Highland Theatre, 5604 N. Figueroa St.  Also featured are Robin Wright, Mel Gibson, Jeremy Northam, Katie Holmes, Alfre Woodard and Adrien Brody. The cinematography was by Tom Richmond. Thanks to Richard Von Busack for noting the theatre's appearance in the film.
