When we do get to the theatre it's revealed that they used the Music Box, 6126 Hollywood Blvd. Here Groucho is talking to one of the ushers. Thanks to an anonymous tipster about the theatre's appearance in the film. At the time of the shoot it was leased to CBS and called the CBS Lux Radio Theatre. It's now called the Fonda Theatre.
Also in the cast are Lucille Ball, Ann Miller, Frank Albertson as the small-town playwright who unexpectedly shows up, Cliff Dunstan as the hotel manager, and Donald MacBride as the auditor everyone tries to avoid. William A. Seiter directed. The cinematography was by J.
Roy Hunt. Morrie Ryskind did the screenplay based on the stage play by
Allen Boretz and John Murray.
A look toward Music Box stage for a scene near the end of "Hail and Farewell," the play they've been rehearsing. The miners are about to bring a dead body out of the mine on a stretcher. Harpo is the dead guy.
