"Be Cool"

Pimped out in red, Vince Vaughn has a violent evening in  the parking lot across the street from the Mayan in F. Gary Gray's "Be Cool" (MGM, 2005). We also have scenes inside, mostly onstage, and don't get much of a tour.

The theatre, a 1927 vintage legit house at 1038 S. Hill St. designed by Morgan, Walls & Clements, later went to films and now survives nicely as a music club. See the Los Angeles Theatres site's pages on the Mayan Theatre for a tour.

Christina Milian is onstage at the Shrine Auditorium for the MTV Music Awards near the end of "Be Cool."

Another Shrine Auditorium shot with a look into the house.

Did we mention John Travolta stars in the movie?  Here he is during filming of "Be Cool" at the Shrine, with author Elmore Leonard. One of Leonard's novels was the basis for the film.

The Los Angeles Theatres pages about the Shrine Auditorium give you a history of the 1926 vintage building, still going strong as a venue for concerts and special events.

John Travolta and Uma Thurman have a moment in front of the Chinese at the end of  "Be Cool."  Go to the Chinese Theatre pages on the Los Angeles Theatres site for several hundred photos of the theatre inside and out.
