"The Clonus Horror"

We take a walk up the west side of the 500 block of S. Main St. in the epic "The Clonus Horror" (Group 1, 1979) in which politicians are looking for an eternal hold on power via cloning. Main Street is, of course, the place to go if you're trying to hide from the evil scientists. This guy has escaped from the project. Robert S. Fiveson directed.

The former Sherman Theatre location at 518 S. Main at this time was an adult movies arcade. The theatre was long gone and its building had been demolished. What we see here is a building that went up c.1924. See the Los Angeles Theatres page about the Sherman Theatre for what little information there is.

Continuing north. The Galway Theatre is in the next building.

At the Galway Theatre, 514 S. Main St. Thanks to Don Solosan for spotting the theatre in the film. See the page on the Galway Theatre for more about this now-vanished grindhouse. The building it was in is still there, in use as a community services agency with offices downstairs and housing upstairs.
