"The Artist"
The Orpheum makes a glorious black and white appearance during the opening of Michel Hazanavicius' "The Artist" (The Weinstein Co., 2011). The film stars Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo.
Another shot at the Orpheum. It's nice to see a band in the pit! Too bad they didn't reinstall those first few rows of seats for the film. See the Los Angeles Theatres pages about the Orpheum Theatre for a history of this 1926 vintage vaudeville house along with several hundred photos. It's a design by G. Albert Lansburgh.
A premiere at the Los Angeles. See the many pages on the Los Angeles Theatres site about the Los Angeles Theatre for hundreds of photos of the building both vintage and recent. Along with lots of other L.A. locations the film also pays a visit to the Bradbury Building.
Don't miss the fine page by John Bengtson on his blog Silent Locations about the Los Angeles Theatre and filming locations for "The Artist." The blog Garrett on the Road also has a blog post about filming locations.
