"Wilde Salomé" and "Salomé"

We see a lot of the Wadsworth Theatre on the VA Campus in Brentwood in Al Pacino's film "Wilde Salomé" (Stonelock Pictures/Quiver).

This documentary has footage of rehearsals and performances of the production of "Salomé" directed by Estelle Parsons that played the Wadsworth from April 14 to May 14, 2006. See an article about it on Playbill. The production starred Pacino along with Jessica Chastain, Estelle Parsons, Kevin Anderson and Roxanne Hart.

We also get footage shot during the filming of the separate film of "Salomé" (2013) that was directed by Mr. Pacino and shot at the same time on a soundstage. There's also lots of discussion about Oscar Wilde and footage of trips to research places important in his life. This documentary premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2011 but there wasn't a U.S. release until 2017. The cinematography on the doc was by Benoît Delhomme, Robert Leacock, Denis Maloney, Matt Steinauer and Jeremy Weiss.

The 2013 film "Salomé," distributed by Omniverse Vision:

The film of "Salomé" starts with a shot of the ruins of Herod's palace in the ancient kingdom of Judea. We also get various location shots out in the California desert, etc. Pacino directed, with the same cast we see onstage at the Wadsworth in "Wilde Salomé."

The cinematography was by Benoît Delhomme. Lots of his footage is also seen in the "Wilde Salomé" documentary.

Jessica Chastain as Salomé. Most of the action was shot on a sparsely decorated soundstage, replicating the look that the show had at the Wadsworth and shot while the production was playing the theatre in the evenings.
