"Kiss Kiss Bang Bang"

"Happy Holidays." We're in the alley north of the Los Angeles Theatre in Shane Black's comedy / murder mystery "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" (Warner Bros., 2005). It's based on Brett Halliday's novel "Bodies Are Where You Find Them." The cinematography was by Michael Barrett.

Robert Downey, Jr. is walking over to Michelle Monaghan to assure her that the kiss she just saw him in the middle of with Val Kilmer didn't mean anything. Val plays a character called Gay Perry and when a patrol car came by he grabbed Robert for a big kiss. Better for the cops to wonder about that than to stop and find the two have a body in the trunk. Of course Michelle wandered into the scene soon enough to catch the end of the smooch.

See the pages about the Los Angeles Theatre on the Los Angeles Theatres site for a history of the building and many photos. The entrance is around the corner at 615 S. Broadway.
