"Three Little Pigskins"

The Three Stooges try to play football near the end of the 20 minute short "Three Little Pigskins" (Columbia, 1934). We're at Gilmore Stadium and get a bit of the Fairfax Theatre, 7907 Beverly Blvd., in the background. Ray McCarey directed. Gilmore had opened earlier in 1934.  Also featured in the film is a very young Lucille Ball.

A view of the stagehouse of the Fairfax.

Another shot with the theatre in the distance. See the page about the Fairfax Theatre on the Los Angeles Theatres site for more about the theatre. It had opened in 1930.

The film is included on disc one of "The Three Stooges Collection Volume 1."

For more information about this filming location (and many others), check out the book "The Three Stooges Hollywood Filming Locations" by Jim Pauley, foreword by Leonard Maltin. It's on Amazon. There's also a Facebook page
