We get two concert sequences at the Pantages, 6233 Hollywood Blvd., in the Neil Diamond version of "The Jazz Singer" (EMI, Associated Film Distribution, 1980). The film was directed by Richard Fleischer. Diamond plays Jess Robin, the supporting act we see on the marquee. Lawrence Olivier plays the traditional Jewish father. Catlin Adams is Rivka, the wife who likes being married to a cantor. Lucie Arnaz is the new girlfriend in Hollywood who really understands him.
A look across the house with Diamond onstage wowing them.
Diamond and Arnaz offstage right.
Back near the rigging the wife, a surprise visitor from New York, talks to a security guy.
After many tribulations and heartbreak we're back onstage at the Pantages for the finale. Yes, the same set we saw for the earlier show. Olivier even comes out west for the show and claps along.

Fifteen seconds of one of the Pantages sequences is on YouTube. Thanks to the Pantages blog for the link -- it was included in their "Hollywood Pantages IMDB" article about films at the theatre.
