Near the end of "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent" (Lionsgate, 2022) we're in a theatre for a premiere of a film written by "Nicholas Cage" and his collaborator, played by Pedro Pascal. In the second row back it's Sharon Horgan as Nick's wife, Lily Mo Sheen as his daughter, "Nick" the screenwriter, and Neil Patrick Harris as his agent.
Tom Gormican directed the film, also featuring Tiffany Haddish, Paco
León, Alessandra Mastronardi, Jacob Scipio and Joanna Bobin. The
cinematography was by Nigel Bluck.
When Nick stands up to take the applause and the shot pans toward the ceiling it's obvious that we're not actually either in L.A. or New York. Most of the film was shot in Hungary and Croatia. For the premiere we're at the Urania National Film Theatre in Budapest.
Nick looks a bit confused as he turns to leave. Perhaps because we're suddenly finishing the scene at the Orpheum, 842 S. Broadway. He's looking for Pedro Pascal's character.
Looking to house left as Nick tells Pedro it went fine. His writing partner had been too apprehensive about the reaction to watch the premiere.
Looking over to house right as Lily Mo and Sharon and walk up the aisle. "Nick" had been a neglectful father and husband. But after all the life-threatening adventure in the middle of the film he's going home to the family and skipping the party. In the film about the events that we see the end of, Demi Moore plays the wife and Anna MacDonald gets the daughter part.
