"Don't Worry Darling"

The opulent art deco former retail space on the ground floor of the Oviatt Building is lovingly featured in a party scene in Olivia Wilde's film "Don't Worry Darling" (Warner Bros. / New Line, 2022). That's Dita Von Teese in the Champagne glass.

Much of the film has a 50s Palm Springs-style desert setting. Florence Pugh is troubled with both the party and the life she and her husband, Harry Styles, have in this environment. He's working for something called the Victory Project, headed by Chris Pine. The film's cinematography was by Matthew Libatiqe.

When Florence retreats to the ladies room at the Oviatt we're actually in the French Renaissance-inspired ladies cosmetics room of S. Charles Lee's Los Angeles Theatre at 615 S. Broadway, only two blocks from the Oviatt.

"They're lying about everything," Florence tells Olivia Wilde, who has come looking for her. Olivia tries to convince her that all is well and she should come back to the party. The shots are from two of the film's trailers.

See the pages about the Los Angeles Theatre on the Los Angeles Theatres site for a history of the building and many photos.
