"Collateral"

We get a look toward Disney Hall when cabdriver Jamie Foxx is driving federal prosecutor Jada Pinkett Smith in from the airport in Michael Mann's "Collateral" (Paramount, 2004). She's stressed out about a case and he gives her a picture of an island getaway he uses to relax. They'll meet up again at the end of the movie when Tom Cruise tries to kill them both.

See the page on Disney Hall on the Los Angeles Theatres site for data on the building and many photos. The building is located at 111 S. Grand Ave. on Bunker Hill.

The film also features Mark Ruffalo, Peter Berg, Bruce McGill, Irma P. Hall and Barry Shabaka Henley. The cinematography was by Dion Beebe and Paul Cameron.

Toward the end of the film Jamie intentionally rolls his cab in an effort to stop Tom Cruise from killing more people. In this shot we see that he's ended up outside the Variety Arts Theatre, 940 S. Figueroa St. One problem an officer on the scene notices is that there's a body in the trunk.

See the pages about the Variety Arts on the Los Angeles Theatres site for photos and historical information about the building.
