"The Muppets"

The exterior of the El Capitan on Hollywood Blvd. gets many shots as the Muppet Theatre in "The Muppets" (Disney, 2011). Initially we get this run-down and abandoned version. Thanks to Linda Hammonds for the screenshot on the SoCal Historic Architecture Facebook page.

The terrazzo at the Roxie Theatre, 518 S. Broadway, gets a cameo as we get a shot from overhead looking down on Jason Segel during a musical number. The film also stars Amy Adams.

We get Kermit on the grand staircase of the Los Angeles Theatre, 615 S. Broadway, for a lobby scene at the Muppet Theatre. The auditorium scenes use a studio set.

At the end of "The Muppets" we get a big scene filling Hollywood Blvd. The marquee is lit up with "Muppet Theatre" instead of "El Capitan" atop the readerboard.

See the pages on the the El Capitan, the Los Angeles Theatre and the Roxie Theatre on the Los Angeles Theatres site for a history of each of the buildings and many photos.
